MLP books – Curb side pick up, Sat., 9/12

Welcome to all returning and new families to Westwood Chinese School!  The first day of school is this Sun., 9/13, starting at 9:00 AM for language classes.

As announced previously, this year we will only be offering online language and some extracurricular classes. 

For students who are registered for MLP or non-bilingual language classes, please pick up (curb side) your books at Westwood High School (WHS) on Sat., 9/12, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM, at the entrance of the Chinese School.  If your child(ren) are registered for one of the bilingual classes, book purchases will be discussed during the first day of class.

The address of WHS is 200 Nahatan St., Westwood, MA 02090.  When driving to the school’s entrance, please use the driveway keeping the football field on your left, you will drive by the entrance to the Auditorium on your right, and the Chinese School entrance is the next big entrance. DO NOT get out of your car!  On a 8.5×11 piece of paper write down the MLP class(es) your child(ren) are registered for and display this information on the front passenger side window.  Staff will bring the books to your car and give them to you via the front passenger side window.  Please bring a check made payable to Westwood Chinese School for the requisite amount.  MLP K books are $50.00/set and MLP 1 – MLP 9 books are $55.00/set. Books may not be returned once the plastic wrap has been removed.  Please wear a facing covering as we approach your car.  This is for the safety of you and the staff member.

If you have not paid your tuition for the language class(es), we will be expecting this payment on Sat. too.  Payment for tuition and books must be made payable to Westwood Chinese School with separate checks.

Please make every attempt to pick up your books on Sat. since this will make for a better start on Sun.

Dear Families and Friends,

We hope this announcement finds all of you well. 

Just as school districts across the state are grappling with implementing the best solution for teaching students this fall, Westwood Chinese School is also challenged with this decision.  Fortunately, we are smaller and only meet once a week.  After consulting with teachers and parents, we have decided to offer only remote classes starting Sunday, Sept., 13^th.  Language classes will be held from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM.  We will also be offering select extracurricular classes scheduled at 10:30 and 11:30. 

Tuition is due in full by Fri., 8/28.  If you have a credit balance from last year, please complete the attached deduction form to determine your tuition balance.  Detailed instructions are available below to assist you with completing this form.  The form must be attached to your check and sent to:

While this decision was not easy and it may not work for all of our students and families, we feel this is the best decision to keep our students, teachers, staff, and families safe during this uncertain time.

There may be an opportunity to revisit this decision for the second semester starting in 2021.  Our calendar is subject to change as we get more information during the school year.
